I purchased this item as a gift for my girlfriend. The barrel was smaller than I thought it would be. It came pre-loaded with a piece of 0.05 mm graphite, thought I don't believe it's capable of holding spares. The switching action was smooth and easy. My girlfriend especially likes it's multifunction feature for editing papers.

If you're looking for a decent multifunction pen, it's a good choice - especially if you're partial to pink, like *ahem* some folks. If you're looking for a simple but refined writing instrument, there may be better options.

I've had two Tech 3 pens, the first I lost unfortunately while I was out of town. Both have been Satin Black, and have a slightly (barely noticeable) textured feeling on an otherwise smooth barrel. I haven't had any slippage that some folks reported with the Chrome version.

The pen has a nice weight and feel to it. I like how it's slim unlike, say, the Bic 4-color pen. It feels pretty solid. Though some have reported bending or breaking their pens, I don't see how this could happen without really pushing it. It feels rugged. It looks very professional without being overly fancy like some of the high-end Cross pens. It's a great pen to have at the office so long as you don't lose it!

Finally, I had no problem finding refills for the black, red or pencil cartridges. They were right on Cross's website. I also found them at my local office supply store. A truly useful and stylish utilitarian pen, I highly recommend it.

I've owned a number of Cross pens over the years and they have always had a good solid feel. This one has all the features claimed and works fine (so far), but doesn't seem to have the heft and solid feel I've come to expect from Cross. Maybe it's just not possible to do with a multi-pen.
